Frankham RMS has worked with Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) over five years providing support to the senior management team to ensure fire compliance.
This project involved developing an internal policy regarding CHP Vulnerable Residents.
Meetings were held with key staff members that have responsibility for vulnerable residents (e.g. those in sheltered housing schemes, extra care facilities etc.) to identify the specific issues that CHP were facing regarding the evacuation of vulnerable residents. It was quickly identified that there were a number of residents that would be unable to self evacuate in the event of a fire within their dwelling and due to the change in staffing levels a solution was required to ensure the safety of these residents in a fire situation.
It was quickly identified that there were a range of different situations resulting in this situation and PEEPS were developed to identify them.
Frankham RMS then developed a policy document to address these concerns which was proposed to the local fire service. Meetings were then held and the policy was adopted having been endorsed by the local fire service.
